Shi Dolor Costume Designs for Short Film

Hey all!

One of the projects that I worked on was costume designing for the short film 'Ghetto Fairytale'.

A TRADITIONALLY narrated fairytale with a contemporary twist that cleverly combines spoken word comic rhymes with fast paced imagery. Set in Manor Park, East London, this dark comedy takes a look inside the fantastical mind of a modern day 'Princess'...

Designed by Russell Van Der Puye

I designed the costume for the lead role of the princess in a few hours (my fastest work ever!lol). It turned out great as can be seen below worn by lead actress, director and writer of the original Ghetto Fairytale poem Francesca Marie. The colours used where Ivory with accents of red to not only coincide with traditional fairytale costumes but also give an edge when the costume is later converted in the movie to something more 'Ghetto looking'. I had to design the costume in a way where it could be taken apart and re-assembled into a totally different look.

The Oscars 2011... Red Carpet Dress Favourites

Hey Guys!

It’s been a while since I last left a blog post, so I humbly come bearing gifts of BIG Shi Dolor news of what projects I've been working on, who I've been exclusively designing for and what you can expect to see from the Shi Dolor brand in the coming months in forthcoming blog posts!... But first things first! The Oscars!!...WOW!

The Oscars had its 83rd annual academy awards on Sunday Just gone. In terms of  red carpet glamour and stunning glitz the Oscars always raises the bar and EVERYONE whether a movie star, agent or personal assistant knows that if they are to walk that red carpet they need to be and look their best!

Here are some of my favourite looks from the night:

The one and only Halle Berry Looking stunning in nude tulle

Dame Helen Mirren... A British National treasure that ALWAYS looks stunning on the red carpet

Actress Mila Kunis looking beautiful in lilac lace and chiffon

No your eyes aren't deceiving you that is the beautiful previous Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson. Now whether you preferred her with more curves you can't deny she looks amazing in this orange number

Sandra Bullock, one of my favourite actresses and personalities in Hollywood looking gorgeous in red

Those were my faves from Oscars night, what were yours? & do you think they should of been included on the list? If so leave a comment :)
